
Founded in 2006, MIT Energy Conference is the largest student-led energy & climate conference in North America. Each year, we gather hundreds of industry professionals, investors, scholars, and policymakers to present, learn and discuss pressing challenges and opportunities that redefine the future of the energy and climate sectors. Major events of the conference include keynote speeches, panel discussions, climate tech startup showcase, networking sessions, and special sessions.

Alexandra Diaz Arias
Alexandra is a Sloan Fellow MBA Candidate at MIT Sloan. She is an electrical engineer from Colombia with over 14 years of experience in the global energy technology sector, most recently managing Global Digital Commercial Operations. Beyond industry, Alexandra co-founded a nonprofit supporting underrepresented Caribbean artists, reflecting her passion for bridging technology, culture, and social impact. She is committed to accelerating the energy transition through AI-enabled decarbonization and to building more inclusive leadership in the sector.

Chloe Brown
Chloe is a first-year LGO student at MIT Sloan pursuing an MBA and an MS in Chemical Engineering. Before MIT, Chloe was a Senior Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company, where she specialized in Global Energy and Materials. For the last 3+ years, she has served as a Military Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Army Reserves. Chloe is passionate about building a resilient, clean grid to meet the rising demand from AI.

Adalberto Acuña Girault
Adal is a graduate student pursuing his MBA and MS in Chemical Engineering as part of MIT’s Leaders for Global Operations program. Prior to MIT, he worked as an engineering manager for P&G, where he helped decrease GHG emissions and optimized electricity consumption for the largest detergent plant in the world. Adal holds a Chemical Engineering degree. Outside of MITEC he enjoys reading, hiking, and skiing.

Sander de la Rambelje
Sander is a second-year graduate student in System Design & Management at MIT. Sander has supported research with the MIT Energy Initiative and the MIT Future Energy Systems Center on global supply chains for sustainable fuels. Prior to MIT, he worked in international energy policy, having spent four years in Palo Alto and two years in Boston connecting innovators and policymakers from Europe and the US to drive market transformation in building and industry decarbonization and the power sector.

Karikari Kwagyan Achireko
Karikari is a graduate student in MIT Technology & Policy Program, focusing on energy economics, finance, and industrial decarbonization. He conducts research at the MIT Energy Initiative and CEEPR. Previously, he worked at the World Bank on climate financing and at the Electricity Company of Ghana on grid projects, driving non-tariff revenue growth through consulting and technical services. His interests center on advanced nuclear, energy transition investments and sustainable infrastructure.

Karen Yang
Karen is a fourth-year PhD student in the EECS department at MIT where she currently conducts research in the industrial scale-up of flexible perovskite solar modules. She was previously also involved as an operations chair for the MITEC Climate Hackathon as well as the Graduate Community Fellow for the Office of Sustainability. Karen is passionate about finding innovative renewable energy strategies to decarbonize our energy production.

Collin Leong
Collin is a Senior at Boston University pursing a B.A. in Earth & Environmental Science with minors in GIS & Urban Studies. He has military logistical planning experience and resource management, and now applies those skills as a Jr. Placemaker Intern at Neighborways Design, involved in community engagement initiatives and tactical urbanism work. He is passionate about sustainable urban planning and clean energy systems.

Keira Boone
Keira Boone is a first-year at MIT pursuing a Materials Science & Engineering BS with an Energy Studies minor. She works on NASA-funded lunar polymer recycling in MIT’s CERBERUZ group and previously worked on electrochemical processes at the University of Houston under Dr. Mim Rahimi, advancing scalable carbon capture. She has also contributed to sustainable hydroponics at Moonflower Farms and NASA SEES climate research. Her interests center on sustainable materials and energy systems.

Destiny Kanu
Destiny Kanu is a senior studying mechanical engineering with a Nanotechnology concentration at Boston University. Prior to joining the MITEC team, she was a semi finalist at MIT energy and climate club hackathon, where she strived to bridge the gap between foresters and technologists by designing a module alongside her teammates. Destiny also served as an intern at Boston University, where she sought out cost efficient methods of decarbonizing buildings.

Ivana Guraieb Galland
Ivana is a first-year MBA student at MIT Sloan. Prior to MIT, she earned her Bachelor’s in Sustainable Development Engineering at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico, and worked as a Consultant at McKinsey & Company, where she focused on energy, climate, and decarbonization projects. Ivana is passionate about driving global decarbonization and creating solutions to address the urgent challenges of climate change.

Clara is a third-year MBA/MPA candidate at MIT Sloan School and Harvard Kennedy School. Prior to graduate studies, Clara worked as a Strategy Consultant at Innosight Consulting and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Government and Economics from London School of Economics (LSE). Passionate about advancing decarbonization in the energy sector, Clara is excited to find holistic solutions to climate change.

Ashley is a second-year undergraduate student at MIT, pursuing a dual degree in Finance and Environmental Engineering. She is actively involved in Women Business Leaders, Brass Rat Investments, the Figure Skating Team, and Alpha Phi. She also recently worked for a lower-middle market investment bank in Chicago. With a strong passion for sustainability, Ashley is dedicated to driving innovation in green investing and building a more eco-conscious financial future.

Alecia is a member of the 2026 Sloan Fellows MBA program. She spent over 20 years in oil and gas, including roles at ExxonMobil, BP, and Chevron, focused on asset integrity, plant operations, and engineering design for major capital projects. Alecia is applying her experience toward building a renewable energy venture.

Prior to graduate school, Mary Ann earned her Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from MIT and worked as a software engineer at Google.

Julia Estrin is a fourth-year PhD student in MIT’s Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department, where she researches high-frequency, high-voltage power electronics to modernize power systems for a resilient future. Beyond her research, she has served as a Fellow at The Engine Ventures and as Managing Director of the MIT Energy & Climate Club Career Fair, bringing technical and industry perspectives together in the energy space.

Miguel Calvo Carrera
Miguel is a fifth-year Physics graduate student at the MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center. Before MIT, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Energy Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and a Bachelor of Science in Physics at the Autonomous University of Madrid. He has conducted research in various areas related to energy and is currently studying the design of next-generation fusion devices. Outside of his research, he is also a very active member of the MIT community.

Tarjei is a second-year Graduate Student in Mechanical Engineering at MIT. He holds a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a Bachelor of Economics, both from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and spent a year as a Fulbright Scholar at Stanford University. His internship experience includes Backe, KPFF Consulting Engineers, and Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Tarjei is passionate about developing large-scale renewable energy infrastructure.

Angela is a second-year MIT undergraduate studying mathematical economics and urban planning. She is passionate about climate economics and clean energy and has worked with Patagonia, the Sierra Club, and the World Wildlife Fund to develop sustainable, community-centered solutions. On campus, she serves as president of the Sustainable Engine Team.

Justin Brown
With a background in Chemical Engineering and Computing Technology from the University of Ottawa, Justin is now an MS student in Chemical Engineering Practice at MIT. He has focused on clean energy innovation through research in green hydrogen production, next-generation batteries, industrial carbon capture, and waste-to-chemicals. He has worked across startups (GBatteries), large corporations (Enerkem), government (Natural Resources Canada), and academia (uOttawa).

Li Xuan Tan
Li Xuan is a MEng student in Computer Science, having recently finished undergrad at MIT. Before that, he had never been to the US or experienced wintertime, having lived in Malaysia all his life. Currently, he works as an operator and researcher at the MIT Nuclear Reactor Laboratory, developing the reactor's digital twin simulator. Li Xuan is interested in ways to make green energy (especially nuclear power) more technically and economically viable, and was on the Finance team for MITEC 2025.

Takuya Suzuki
Takuya is a master’s student in the MIT System Design & Management program, focusing on sustainability and technology management. At IHI Americas Inc., a leading Japanese engineering conglomerate in energy and aerospace, he leads global technology scouting and open innovation with universities and industry. With a Ph.D. in Ocean Engineering and experience in renewable energy systems, he is passionate about advancing clean-energy solutions.
